Now, we have spoke about blood and its components, how blood cells are produced, red blood cells, white blood cells and their functions. Therefore, today we are going to post on PLATELETS. PLATE WHAT??? PLATELETS??? WHAT'S THAT??
Based on our previous post, platelets are one of the components of whole blood cells.
hmmm... PLATELETS? does it sound familiar especially if you have experience of diagnosed with Dengue Fever?
Yes? well let us tell you..
Platelets are tiny cell fragments that circulate through our bloodstream. Their role is to help stop bleeding when there is an injury to our body.
How does it work?

A normal platelet count ranges from 150,000-450,000 per microliter.
Low count of platelets are known Thrombocytopenia
Thrombocytopenia signs and symptoms may include:
Easy or excessive bruising (purpura)
Superficial bleeding into the skin that appears as a rash of pinpoint-sized reddish-purple spots (petechiae), usually on the lower legs
